Saul Griffith’s book Electrify: An Optimists’ playbook for our clean energy future has the most cost-effective plans to address our climate emergency. We can transition to using existing electric-powered machine technology and 100% clean renewable electricity (generated by wind and solar). We can quickly phase out all machines that use fossil fuels. He explains how this will create millions of new jobs and a healthier environment. The good news is that we don’t need fossil fuels anymore! We can keep them in the ground where they won’t make our planet even hotter.
Solutions:
You and Us
Your actions make a difference
About 80% of global emissions result from our choices of energy, transportation, and how we heat buildings. It all begins with one step: go all-electric. This includes insulating your home, replacing a gas furnace with a heat pump, riding electric public transportation, or driving an electric vehicle.
Together we can change the system
Laws, regulations, codes, ordinances are useful tools to control emissions.
For example, over 70 cities nationwide have limited fossil gas infrastructure in new construction.
A “Just Transition” will include support for low- and moderate-income (LMI) people to electrify their homes.

Make Some Noise
A transition to a clean energy future requires systemic change. Individual action is not enough- we need collective action by voters and policymakers at all levels.
Tell policymakers you are concerned about climate and want them to act.
